The grand finale of The Masked Singer dazzled audiences and prompted them to call for a special duet between two stars.

Last year’s champion returned and wowed crowds with a rendition of Bonnie Tyler'sTotal Eclipse Of The Heart alongside Pufferfish.

McFly'sDanny Jonesreturned as Piranhaand replaced judgeMo Gilliganon the panel for the Saturday night final.

Fans took to social media to declare how impressed they were.

One inspired viewer wrote: "Wow - this was amazing. I'm covered in goosebumps! Piranha and Pufferfish - what a duet."

Another one added: "That Total Eclipse of the Heart duet by Pufferfish and Piranha should be released as a single."

Jonathan Ross weighed in on Macy Gray's tantrum after the singer stormed off the stage.

He said: “I was trying to keep her engaged with it so she wouldn’t look bad. And I also wanted her to maybe leave with a smile.

“So I made some jokes about Joel to try to move the focus from what had happened and away from her. But really I was just trying to make it less difficult for her.

“I was a little surprised at her reaction, but I can understand why someone might feel vulnerable in that moment.

Fans hit the nail when they guessed who was under the Wolf's mask.

Before the finale, many viewers believed that it was formerWet Wet Wetfrontman Marti Pellow - and they were right.

One person pointed out on Reddit: "They showed a photo of someone's eyes, I know whose those eyes were and it ties in with my guess.

"The eyes are David Boreanaz, from Angel. Angel eyes was a song byWet Wet Wetand Wolf is... Marti Pellow."

In addition, Wolf performed The Candy Man during a week where the song choices were clues.

Before the big reveal, fans were fairly convinced that West End superstar Samantha Barks was behind the mask.

One wrote on Reddit: "Firstly,the voiceis very similar.

"Watch her BGT performance of 'Let It Go' and you’ll see what I mean - she has even got on her knees before whilst performing, which we saw in Good Luck, Babe last week."

"Next, it has to be said from someone who has seen Pufferfish live in studio, that she has an incredibly tiny stomach despite wearing a corset.

"From what I’ve seen,Samanthahas the same physique. I’ve also seen pictures of her wearing corsets and everything seems to be near enough an exact match!"

Memorable moments

One of this series' most notable moments came in the form of US singer Macy storming off the stage after being forced to unmask herself after just three weeks in the competition.

Macy initially refused to take off her mask and had a backstage meltdown lasting over an hour before finally being persuaded to return to the stage.

A whistleblower said: “This has never happened onThe Masked Singerbefore.

“When Macy stormed off stage everyone was frozen in shock but as soon as she reached backstage, crew removed her mask so they could talk her down.

“Macy was almost shell-shocked to start with and was basically gutted to be out so early because she really enjoyed being on the American version - when obviously she did brilliantly - so was totally blindsided.”
